Our breeding program is unique in that our foals are born on our farm so that we have complete involvement in their healthy beginnings for both their physical and mental well-being. Our aims in breeding are to breed the best, not the most. We develop the young horses to excel to their greatest performance potential. While our breeding program is relatively young, we began our program when we had the opportunity to import Rosie, who was born in 2000 in Germany . We have been breeding for over 3 years and have produced every year since. Please read on to learn more about the horses on our farm and some of those who have already moved on to new owners
Gucci – This beautiful dark bay Russian Trakaner mare is an outstanding athlete, and was training at the 4th level when we decided to breed her to Caruso. In March 2006 Gucci had a lovely colt, Cartier.
Rosella – Rosie is an outstanding Oldenberg Chestnut Mare that was judged Stadt Premium in Germany. She was imported as a bred mare. Her first colt out of Sandrow Hit was judged Near Stallion Prospect by the Oldenberg Society during the summer of 2004. Her second colt, Caravaggio (Gio), out of Caruso, was judged Premium in July 2005. Gio is currently for sale and can be viewed at ShadowDance. For more information, look under horses for sale. Rosie’s third foal is a filly named Rubinsque, Rubi was born March 29th 2006. On July 7th, Rubi was judged Premium by the Oldenburg society. With her first three foals judged premium and Stallion Prospect. Rosie has been nominated as an Elite Mare. Rosie’s latest is a beautiful Filly, born on June 5 2007, out of Del Lorenzo We named her Rococo because of her vitality and positive and active approach to life. We think that Rococo is Rosie’s best so far. Rococo was judged Premium Oct 25 2007. Not only does Rosie produce gorgeous, balanced foals with fine temperments, but she also contributes her quiet, confident nature. The first time that I saw Rosie was at Willowlake Farm in Maryland . She was presented in the indoor ring and was ‘strutting her stuff” at the far end of the ring. I wanted to take some pictures, so I went into the ring. Rosie immediately came up to me to check out my camera. I never did get pictures since Rosie wouldn’t move away from me far enough to take one. I didn’t need pictures anyway because we bought her that very day.
The General – black Tennessee Walker. General is used for Bird Dog Field Trials, training bird dogs and just general pleasure riding. Everybody likes The General and he often gets comments like “he’s so ugly that he’s cute”. General doesn’t care -- as long as he gets fed. General was “imported” from Michigan . The general is available to the right person. If you like to drink champagne while riding, he may be the horse for you. His running walk and his cantor are as smooth as glass. De Bosch – Imported Chestnut Russian Hanoverian. De Bosch is a Russian import. He has tremendous presence, is very strong, and likes to try new things. He is presently working at the 3rd level. He is available to the right rider. See Horses For Sale for more information.
Davidoff, The Good Life. -- Davi is an imported bay Russian Warmblood. Davi is presently being trained at the upper 4th level. He is a kind, no nonsense, and hard working gentleman with a great sense of humor. He takes very good care of DuBose, and together they make a fantastic team.
Excalibre – Caleb is a local boy, and is the first event horse that DuBose competed. Caleb loves to jump and, even though he looks like a medieval warhorse, has beautiful movement in the Dressage ring. He is presently semi-retired because no one has time to ride him. His job at present, is taking care of the yearlings. He is available to the right rider.
Cartier – Guido, our Vet’s name for Cartier, is a most entertaining youngster with an outgoing, happy, and inquisitive nature. He looks as athletic as his mother.
